Asian Dining

Black Noodle — Logo for an Asian Restaurant

Logo for Black Noodle, a contemporary Asian restaurant
Restaurant Asian Logo Design

Black Noodle is a contemporary Asian restaurant that wanted a strong identity, far from the traditional visual codes often used in classic Asian dining (red, gold, calligraphy).

Project background

Black Noodle is a restaurant specialising in Asian noodles, for which the logo concept draws directly on the world of manga — a culture that matters a great deal in the creative approach to this project. Rather than the traditional visual codes of Asian dining, the identity borrows from this more contemporary, dynamic graphic imagery.

The work

The logo relies on strong contrast (deep black, vivid accents) and a bold drawing inspired by manga's graphic codes, for a contemporary rather than traditional feel. The goal was to immediately signal a modern dining experience, not just another generic Asian restaurant.

Why this style

Standing out in Asian dining often means embracing a break from expected codes: a contrasted, contemporary design signals a different experience right from the storefront.

What makes a good logo for an Asian restaurant?

The Asian dining sector often rests on very established visual codes: red and gold, calligraphy, lanterns, dragons. A good logo in this sector needs to consciously choose its position: lean on these codes to reassure an audience that's looking for them, or deliberately break from them to signal a different, contemporary dining experience.

Drawing on other graphic worlds — manga culture rather than traditional imagery, for instance — helps build a memorable identity, provided the result stays consistent with the experience actually offered in the dining room, from the menu to the decor.
